Philadelphia 1876. The Dead are rising. A zombie delivers a letter to Eleanor Fitt. Whoever controls the Dead Army has her brother. She avoids her mother’s choice of husband for the lab of Spirit Hunters, including the maddeningly stubborn yet handsome Daniel. The situation threatens her reputation, and the lives of everyone in the city.
Okay, so I don’t do the whole scary thing. If something looks even remotely frightening, I will run the other way (or do it and spend a week trying not to freak out at the slightest noise). Needless to say I thought the whole dead-coming-back-to-life concept would creep me out. I was extremely surprised to find that it didn’t! I thought this book was really engaging and had me casting away from shore the ship that is Eleanor and Daniel *swoon*. It was fairly well-written, nothing too memorable, but not bad either. Generally, I don’t have many negative things to say about this book, but I did wish the ending was different! The story in itself was really well developed and there was a lot of connection with the reader to the character. I absolutely want to read the next one and would recommend it to ages 15 and up. Sorry this review is super short, I didn’t really have much time to write a lengthy one, but really wanted to at least get something on my blog!
Lots of love,
